Booking pace
In shortBooking pace compares the reservations on the books for a future period with last year, budget or forecast at the same point before arrival.
Pick-up shows the change between two snapshots; pace tells you whether what you have is where it should be. For example: 60 days before arrival, how many room nights were sold last year, and how many this year?
For a meaningful comparison, dates should be aligned by day of week, and moving events such as public holidays or trade fairs must be taken into account.
Formula
Pace variance = (On the books this year − On the books last year at the same point) ÷ On the books last year at the same point × 100
Example
90 days before December there were 210 room nights on the books last year and 240 this year: pace = (240 − 210) ÷ 210 × 100 ≈ +14%.
